Guidelines for Presenters
Presentations (oral or poster) will be held in person, while online attendance is available for auditors only.
Language
The official language of the conference is English, therefore both Oral and Poster presentations must be prepared in English to ensure accessibility for an international audience.
Guidelines for Oral Presentations
Presenters are invited to structure their presentation as follows: 15 minutes for the oral presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
The presentations should be in power point (.ppt or .pptx) or .pdf format.
Speakers are kindly requested to respect the allotted time to ensure the smooth running of the sessions.
Presentation guidelines
- Recommended fonts: Arial, Tahoma, Verdana
- Title size: approximately 40 pt (e.g. Verdana)
- Subtitles and bullet points: approximately 32 pt
- Main text: no smaller than 24 pt
- Footers, diagrams, and tables: no smaller than 18 pt
Design and Readability
- Please use the ISA-recommended presentation template to ensure visual consistency across sessions.
- Keep slides clear and uncluttered. Aim for one main message per slide and avoid overcrowding with excessive text.
- Use a high-contrast color scheme (e.g. dark text on a light background) to maximize readability in large rooms.
- Avoid using colored fonts, particularly red and green, as they may reduce readability and are problematic for color-blind attendees.
- To ensure readability, avoid underlined text.
- Limit the use of animations and transitions. If used, they should be simple and functional, not distracting.
- Ensure that all graphs, charts, and images are clearly legible from a distance:
- Use sufficiently large fonts for labels, legends, and axes
- Avoid overly complex figures or excessive data on a single slide
- Images and figures should be of high resolution and properly scaled.
- Use consistent formatting throughout the presentation (fonts, colors, alignment) to improve clarity and professional appearance
Guidelines for Poster Presentations
Posters must be prepared in portrait orientation with maximum dimensions of 70 × 100 cm.
Poster panels will be available on site for display.
Presenters will be provided with all necessary materials to mount their posters at the designated place and time.
Prepare your poster one week before the start of ISA 2026 (by Monday, May 11, 2026).
The digital version of the posters will be available to all ISA 2026 participants on their devices, in addition to the physical display, allowing everyone to view them anytime during the symposium and easily connect with the presenters.
More details on the poster sessions will be shared soon.
Design and Readability
Please use the ISA-recommended presentation template to ensure visual consistency across the poster session. Strictly follow the template for the layout, fonts, and design of the top section of the poster. For the other part of the poster take into consideration the following guidelines:
- Recommended fonts include Arial, Tahoma, Verdana
- Ensure that text is large enough to be easily readable from a distance of at least 1 meter.
- Use high quality images, figures and diagrams.
- Avoid using colored text, particularly red and green, as it may reduce readability and pose difficulties for color-blind attendees.
- Maintain consistent formatting (fonts, colors, alignment) throughout the poster to enhance clarity and professional appearance.
- Limit text and prioritize visual elements to ensure the poster is easily read at a glance.
On-site Display & Presentation
Posters will be displayed in the Honour Court of Palazzo Reale—an open and symbolic venue where archaeometry steps beyond academia to engage directly with the public. Dedicated congress staff will be present at all times to welcome and guide visitors; public access will take place outside the hours of the official ISA 2026 poster sessions.
Presenters are therefore strongly encouraged to ensure that their posters remain on display from Monday, 18 May through Friday, 22 May. The organising team will support participants in making this possible.
All posters will also be available on a dedicated online platform, allowing ISA 2026 participants to access them on their devices at any time, even when away from the exhibition venue, and supporting networking opportunities. Please note that online submission complements (but does not replace) the printed posters displayed during the poster sessions.
All poster presenters are requested to carefully follow the instructions below:
- Prepare the poster
Use the ISA-recommended presentation template and follow the provided guidelines. Including your photo will help participants recognise you. - Upload the poster online
Submit your poster for the online platform by filling the upload poster form by May 11, 2026. If you are presenting more than one poster, please complete a separate form for each poster. You may choose to leave your poster tube in storage; in that case, indicate in the form when you would like to collect it (see below). You will also upload a PDF version of your poster, which will remain accessible to all registered ISA 2026 participants throughout the symposium. - Print the poster
Bring your printed poster to Turin, or use one of the print centres located near the congress venues. - Deliver the poster
Drop off your poster at the Poster Desk (you may also leave your poster tube, clearly labelled with your poster code[s]) at one of the following times and locations:
- Monday, 18 May, 08:30–13:30 – Aldo Moro Auditorium, University of Turin
- Monday, 18 May, 13:30–15:00 – Musei Reali Torino, Honour Court
- Tuesday, 19 May, 08:30–13:30 – Congress Centre of the Association of the Industrialists
- Tuesday, 19 May, 13:30–18:00 – Musei Reali Torino, Honour Court
- Poster and tube collection (optional)
If you do not wish to retrieve your poster, you may leave it on display.
If you leave your poster tube, indicate in the poster upload form when you would like to collect it by selecting one of the following time slots (poster and tube retrieval can be selected independently in the form):
- Thursday, 21 May, 18:00–19:00 – Musei Reali Torino, Honour Court
